A distraught wife used her husband’s phone location to track him to a CVS store in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where authorities discovered his body inside a trash compactor.
Tragic Discovery
Andrew Strand, a 34-year-old father of two, vanished while performing contract work at the CVS on Chagrin Boulevard. His wife, Jaymie, grew concerned after not hearing from him for several hours and alerted police around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
Officers rushed to the location indicated by Strand’s phone and conducted a thorough search. They found his lifeless body in the trash compactor at the rear of the property.
Ongoing Investigation
Shaker Heights Police continue to probe the circumstances of Strand’s death. Commander John Cole expressed sympathies, stating, “We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.”
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner collaborates with investigators to establish the cause of death.
CVS issued a statement confirming full cooperation with authorities in the matter.
Family’s Loss and Support
Strand leaves behind his wife of seven years and two young children. A GoFundMe campaign highlights his role as a devoted family man who coached his son’s hockey and baseball teams and cheered on his daughter’s dance and gymnastics pursuits.
“His wife and children were the center of his life and he loved them immensely,” the fundraiser notes. Described as a compassionate mechanic who recently launched his own business, Strand frequently aided friends and those in need.
The campaign laments his sudden passing, which has left the family reeling. As of Monday, it has surpassed $18,000 toward a $20,000 goal to support them.
