A devastating fire erupted in a crowded residence in Winnipeg’s west end on Saturday morning, shortly before 10 a.m., in the 300 block of Agnes Street.
Emergency Response and Victims
First responders evaluated seven individuals at the scene, transporting five to the hospital for treatment. Tragically, an 18-year-old and a 48-year-old woman later succumbed to their injuries by Sunday. The remaining three victims continue to recover in stable condition.
Ongoing Investigation
Due to the fatalities, the Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit has assumed control of the probe. As of Monday, the site has become a makeshift memorial while investigators meticulously examine the blaze’s origin.
