Emergency services responded swiftly to a major 15-vehicle collision on the M73 motorway in Scotland, which led to five people being hospitalized and a temporary northbound closure.
Incident Details and Response
The crash occurred just before midnight on Sunday in Lanarkshire. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dispatched three fire appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene.
The Scottish Ambulance Service mobilized six ambulances and two special operations response teams. Paramedics transported two patients to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, two to the Royal Hospital for Children in the city, and one to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Three additional individuals received treatment at the scene and were released.
Road Closure and Reopening
Authorities closed the northbound carriageway between Junction 2 at Gartcosh and Junction 3 to manage the incident. Traffic Scotland confirmed the road reopened just before 4 a.m. on Monday.
