Election Integrity Taskforce Issues Final Report on Farrer By-election
The Electoral Integrity Assurance Taskforce (EIAT) Board has delivered its formal advice to the Australian Electoral Commissioner, Jeff Pope, subsequent to the return of the writ for the 2026 Farrer by-election. This advisory document is now accessible on the EIAT’s official website.
Upholding Democratic Standards
Commissioner Pope emphasized the paramount importance of election process integrity, stating, “The integrity of election processes is critical to public trust in Australia’s democracy.” He further elaborated on the Australian Electoral Commission’s (AEC) role, noting, “The AEC is at the forefront of upholding integrity standards for the delivery of federal election and by-election processes.”
The Taskforce’s contribution was highlighted as essential. “The work of the Taskforce plays a vital role as Australia’s leading capability in responding to challenges which may arise in our electoral environment,” Commissioner Pope remarked.
