Arsenal continues to show resourcefulness this season, managing injuries while competing in four tournaments. A potential squad boost could arrive in the summer, as Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez expresses openness to a future move.
Alvarez Open to New Challenges
The Argentina international, linked with Arsenal and Barcelona, states he remains happy at Atletico Madrid but does not rule out a departure. “I don’t know, I don’t know, but maybe yes, maybe no. You never know,” Alvarez said. “But I’m very happy here. You ask me a question that will end up all over the place, but I’m happy. I’m thinking about the day-to-day, I’m working to improve, to give my best here. I never said anything bad about the club. I’m very grateful; the people have shown me their affection.”
Arsenal faces Everton at the Emirates Stadium this weekend, while rivals Manchester City travel to West Ham in the capital, resuming Premier League action after European midweek fixtures.
Norgaard Thrives in New Defensive Role
Injuries in defense have forced Arsenal to adapt, with midfielder Christian Norgaard dropping into the center-back position. The Danish player, who joined from Brentford last summer, started there against Club Brugge in the Champions League in December.
Norgaard embraces the role. “It actually suits me very well,” he told Viaplay. “As a defender, you have a lot of the game in front of you. In the long run, it could be a good and suitable position for me. It’s nice to have a phase where I try it out.”
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Norgaard discussed the positional shift with Denmark national team coach Brian Riemer. “It’s always nice when time is set aside for something like this,” the 32-year-old added. “We were just discussing this potential opportunity for me to play centre-back. It was great that Brian could hear what thoughts and challenges Arsenal have had.”
