Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann voiced strong support for Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry, whose adductor strain threatens his World Cup participation. Bayern Munich revealed the injury on Saturday, stating Gnabry faces an extended absence. The timeline suggests two to three months sidelined, which would rule him out of the tournament starting June 11.
Nagelsmann’s Message of Solidarity
Nagelsmann, who previously coached Gnabry at Bayern, expressed sympathy after speaking with the 30-year-old player once the diagnosis confirmed. “I feel very sorry for Serge. This is particularly bitter news at the end of the season, with so many big and important matches coming up,” Nagelsmann stated.
He added, “I told him that we in the national team are all behind him. We will all support him in the best way possible so that he can get back on the pitch as soon as possible.”
Gnabry’s Strong Season Form
Gnabry has rediscovered his scoring touch this campaign, contributing eight goals and seven assists in 21 Bundesliga appearances. He forms a potent attacking unit alongside Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Diaz.
Bayern Munich advances to the Champions League semifinals and German Cup semifinals, with a chance to clinch the Bundesliga title as early as Sunday.
Prior to the injury, Gnabry appeared a lock for Nagelsmann’s World Cup roster if he maintained fitness.
