Travelers in Toronto should map out alternative routes this weekend due to a full closure of the Don Valley Parkway and disruptions on TTC Line 2, along with GO Transit adjustments.
Don Valley Parkway Shutdown Details
The Don Valley Parkway closes in both directions from Highway 401 to the Jarvis Street ramp on the Gardiner Expressway starting Friday at 11 p.m. It remains shut until 5 a.m. Monday for essential infrastructure maintenance.
FIFA World Cup Infrastructure Upgrades
City officials confirm the work prepares roadways for the upcoming FIFA World Cup while maintaining expressway standards. “The closures allow multiple city divisions and partners to work safely and at the same time, to ensure the expressways remain safe, clean and in good working condition,” city officials stated.
Officials urge drivers to plan trips ahead, use alternate routes, allow extra travel time, and opt for public transit where feasible.
