In clips from rookie minicamp, Woods overpowered tackling dummies. Travis zeroed in on one habit, stating, “You got to watch that left arm, though, that left arm gets a little hot.”

He elaborated, “Right here, the left arm gets up, that’s head and neck area, Peter. We’ve got to stay away from the head and neck area. We’ve got to swat that ball.”

Jason suggested Woods was properly aiming for the ball but admitted some telegraphing. Still, he remained positive: “I’m an all-around fan of that kind of movement.”

Travis concurred on Woods’ explosiveness, noting, “He looked good to be that big, man,” about the 6-foot-2, 298-pound lineman. He stressed refining the technique further.

Woods Joins Chiefs’ Defensive Overhaul

All-ACC First Team honoree Woods entered the NFL as the 29th overall pick in last month’s draft.

Kansas City prioritized defense, selecting LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane sixth overall and Oklahoma edge rusher R Mason Thomas in the second round.

The Chiefs also signed ex-New England Patriots nose tackle Khyiris Tonga as a free agent to pair with defensive captain Chris Jones.

Travis Kelce heads into the season on a three-year contract potentially worth up to $57 million including incentives.
