Fresh concerns about President Donald Trump’s health are circulating online following a maternal health event in the Oval Office at the White House. Videos from the televised appearance capture moments where the president appears to close his eyes while seated, prompting widespread discussion on social media.
Social Media Reactions Escalate
Journalist Aaron Rupar highlighted the footage on X, stating: “Trump’s face drooping was especially noticeable today.” In another post, Rupar added: “Trump is about to hit REM sleep on camera in the Oval.” These observations sparked intense debates, with critics sharing humorous takes. One user quipped: “The nodfather continues his unbroken napping streak live for the whole world to see. He might break a Guinness world record for most consecutive days sleeping on the job.” Another remarked: “It’s hard for Trump to be ‘woke’ when he can barely even stay awake.” A third noted: “Trump, talking out the side of his mouth. Why won’t Republicans get him some help?”
Defenses from Supporters
Supporters swiftly countered the criticism. The White House’s Rapid Response 47 team fired back: “He was blinking, you absolute moron.” Another defender explained: “He’s literally reading,” while accusing detractors of unfair attacks. A further ally emphasized: “No one goes on less sleep than he does. He works harder than your big toe, so be quiet.”
Trump’s Assertions on Cognitive Fitness
These latest questions arise despite President Trump’s claims of excelling in cognitive tests during his previous terms. On Monday at the White House, he asserted that no prior president had taken such assessments and advocated mandatory tests for presidential and vice presidential candidates. Earlier this year, he shared on Truth Social that White House doctors deemed him in “PERFECT HEALTH” after an evaluation.
Health speculations have lingered for months, including observations of bruising on his hands and ankle swelling at public events. Officials attribute these to chronic venous insufficiency. Trump maintains robust fitness, once recounting during a March speech that former White House doctor Ronny Jackson suggested he could live to 200 years old by avoiding junk food.
