Real Madrid president Florentino Perez delivers a fiery TV interview, accusing media of an organized campaign against the club while defending star players and teasing potential summer transfers.
Media Campaign and Refereeing Concerns
Perez reiterates claims of a coordinated effort by journalists to undermine Real Madrid. ‘I know the journalists involved in this orchestrated campaign. They think they can influence Real Madrid. I don’t speak to journalists because I’m very busy,’ he states on the Spanish TV program El Chiringuito de Jugones.
During a recent news conference at the club’s training center, Perez confronts critics, calling for new elections. ‘Some people are moving in the shadows to run for elections. Well, let them run. This is the opportunity I am giving them,’ he declares. He accuses certain journalists and individuals of seeking to destroy Real Madrid, vowing to defend the interests of the club’s members.
Transfer Speculation: Haaland and Yamal
On potential signings, Perez drops a hint about Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, contracted until 2034. ‘Is Haaland impossible to sign? I don’t know,’ he says mischievously.
He expresses admiration for Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal but rules out any deal. ‘Of course I like him. How could I not? But with the situation we have with Barca now… I don’t want to have any relationship with a club that has paid off referees for two decades,’ Perez explains.
Manager Rumors and Player Relations
Perez distances himself from speculation about Jose Mourinho’s return, despite the Benfica coach’s past success at Madrid from 2010 to 2013. ‘I like all the coaches. He was with us, he raised our competitiveness. It’s not true that I choose the coaches,’ he insists. He adds that he did not speak to Mourinho during Benfica’s recent Champions League match against Madrid.
Addressing French striker Kylian Mbappe, Perez praises him as Real Madrid’s top player and recent Golden Boot winner. ‘Mbappe is the best player at Real Madrid right now. He’s scored a lot of goals. There are things we need to improve, but I’m not going to get into that,’ he says. Perez notes he greets players at training but does not converse extensively with Mbappe.
Dressing Room Tensions
Perez addresses recent internal conflicts, including an incident where Federico Valverde suffered a head injury requiring hospital treatment after a clash with Aurelien Tchouameni. ‘We know about them or we suspect them. Bringing that up to tear Real Madrid down. It should stay in the locker room. Now they’re saying it’s chaos. I’m not going to analyse it,’ he responds.
