Trump Seen Discussing Controversial Calls with NBA Commissioner Silver
Footage has surfaced showing a visibly animated Donald Trump in conversation with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver during a recent game at Madison Square Garden. The incident occurred as the New York Knicks faced a loss against the San Antonio Spurs, a game that saw the Spurs narrow the Knicks’ series lead to 2-1 in the NBA Finals.
The matchup was marked by intense play and several contentious moments. Notably, Knicks star Jalen Brunson was involved in a series of physical encounters, including one where he was sent to the floor by a shove from Spurs player Victor Wembanyama. Brunson also experienced a hard collision with Stephon Castle during the game.
Frustration Over Officiating Mounts
During the second quarter, as Brunson prepared to take a free throw, cameras captured Trump and Silver engaged in what appeared to be a discussion. From his suite, Trump was observed gesturing and shaking his head while speaking with the commissioner.
Following the Knicks’ 115-111 defeat, head coach Mike Brown voiced strong criticism regarding the officiating. He pointed out the significant disparity in free throw attempts during the second half, with the Spurs shooting 24 compared to the Knicks’ eight.
“I never thought I’d see that in an NBA Finals game, and I saw it tonight,” Brown stated after his team’s 13-game postseason winning streak was broken.
Trump Addresses Crowd Reaction
Separately, Donald Trump addressed reports of his reception when he appeared on the jumbotron during the national anthem. He claimed to have heard “mostly cheers” from the crowd, despite other accounts suggesting he was “thunderously booed.” When questioned about the crowd’s reaction at John F. Kennedy Airport, Trump responded, “You mean when they had the camera on me? I thought it was very good, yeah. It was certainly amazing. It was, I think, mostly cheers… it was loud and it was very enthusiastic.”
