A Florida woman has been arrested and is facing charges of robbery and grand theft after allegedly drugging a man she met at a casino complex and stealing his valuable Rolex watch, estimated to be worth nearly $100,000. Authorities are also investigating the suspect in connection with at least four other similar incidents.

Suspect Arrested in High-Value Watch Theft

Lynda Mae Crouse, 32, was taken into custody on Friday following an investigation into an incident that occurred in April at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. The alleged victim reported meeting Crouse on April 12 at the Carousel Club, an outdoor venue within the sprawling Gulfstream Park racing and casino complex. After exchanging contact information via Instagram, the pair reportedly arranged to meet again.

According to an arrest report, the man later arranged for an Uber to bring Crouse to his residence. Once at his home, they began to consume alcohol. The man stated that he had not drunk enough to account for the events that followed. At one point, he left Crouse alone in the living room to change in his bedroom.

Alleged Drugging and Theft Unfold

Upon returning to the living room, the man reported feeling disoriented and experiencing extreme fatigue, describing his condition as “funny” and “extremely tired.” He also recalled hearing an unusual clapping sound. He noticed a change in Crouse’s demeanor, and she then announced she was leaving for the night. The man’s condition worsened rapidly; he became increasingly tired and confused before falling asleep.

He awoke several hours later with a strong suspicion that something was amiss. Still feeling unwell and believing he had been drugged, his immediate concern turned to his valuables, particularly his expensive watch. He discovered that his Rolex, a gold 40mm Presidential model featuring baguette diamond hour markers and a diamond-covered bezel, valued at $98,400, was missing from its box.

The man later identified Crouse from a photo lineup, leading to her arrest. Investigators have indicated that Crouse may have a pattern of targeting individuals with high-value timepieces.

Broader Investigation into Similar Cases

The incident at Gulfstream Park is potentially part of a larger series of alleged crimes. Law enforcement officials revealed that Crouse is also being investigated in connection with four other active cases in Miami-Dade County, including incidents in Aventura, Miami, and Miami Beach. These cases reportedly share a similar modus operandi.

Authorities allege that Crouse specifically targets men wearing expensive watches at bars and clubs. The alleged method involves incapacitating the victims, possibly with a sedative, before stealing their valuables. In one of the other cases under investigation, toxicology tests on an alleged victim reportedly detected zolpidem, a prescription sleep medication known to cause rapid drowsiness, confusion, and memory impairment, effects that can be amplified when mixed with alcohol.

“Bad Date” Crime Pattern

This alleged pattern of behavior aligns with what law enforcement sometimes refers to as a “bad date” crime. This type of offense typically involves meeting someone socially, becoming incapacitated, and subsequently discovering that personal belongings have been stolen.

The victim in the April incident confirmed that while he had been drinking, the amount consumed should not have led to him blacking out. Investigators apprehended Crouse months after the alleged theft. She was booked on charges of robbery and grand theft and was later released on a $2,000 bond.

Conclusion

The arrest of Lynda Mae Crouse highlights a concerning trend of “bad date” crimes involving alleged drugging and high-value theft. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to determine the full extent of her alleged involvement in similar incidents across South Florida, with a focus on recovering stolen property and ensuring justice for the victims.
