Appearing ICE Director Todd Lyons vowed to “flood” Boston with immigration brokers after progressive Mayor Michelle Wu refused to adjust to the Trump administration’s order to dismantle town’s sanctuary legal guidelines.
“We’re undoubtedly going to … flood the zone, particularly in sanctuary jurisdictions,” Lyons instructed “The Howie Carr Present” Wednesday.
“Boston and Massachusetts determined to say that they wished to remain sanctuary. Sanctuary doesn’t imply safer streets. It means extra prison aliens out and concerning the neighborhood. However 100%, you will notice a bigger ICE presence.”
It comes after town’s mayor on Tuesday publicly rejected Lawyer Normal Pam Bondi’s ultimatum to axe its sanctuary metropolis regulation — or danger cuts to federal funding.
“Cease attacking our cities to cover your administration’s failures. Not like the Trump administration, Boston follows the regulation, and Boston is not going to again down from who we’re or what we stand for. We is not going to again away from our group that has made us the most secure metropolis within the nation,” Wu bellowed at a raucous press convention.
Lyons slammed the mayor’s resistance, insisting Boston’s sanctuary standing was solely making the streets extra harmful given native cops can ignore ICE detainers — unlawful migrants convicted of crimes can primarily be lower unfastened again into the group.
“That’s the difficulty we’re seeing in so many jurisdictions,” Lyons mentioned.
“We now have so many women and men on the Boston Police Division and different jurisdictions which are so pro-ICE, that wish to work with us and which are really serving to us behind the scenes.”
“That’s what I feel native leaders don’t perceive, is they should speak to the women and men on the bottom, as a result of … there are such a lot of of those prison aliens that preserve getting launched to exit and commit extra crimes that the native regulation enforcement must take care of. We will take that violent prison alien immediately out of the neighborhood,” he added.
