Renowned American rapper and producer Snoop Dogg has shared his determination to play an active role in elevating Swansea City to the Premier League after acquiring a stake in the Championship club. The 54-year-old entertainer became an investor in the Welsh team in July, joining forces with Croatian midfielder Luka Modric. Businesswoman and TV personality Martha Stewart later joined as a minority co-owner in December.
Vision for Club’s Future
Snoop Dogg outlined his ambitious plans for the club during a recent interview. “I want to be real hands on, I want to take the club in a direction maybe it hasn’t been before,” he stated. He emphasized the financial aspects of achieving promotion, adding, “We want to take Swansea to the Premier League, and to do that we are going to need money – that’s the reality of the game these days.”
Optimism Amid Challenging Season
Currently positioned 16th in the English Championship with more than half the season complete, Swansea remains well outside the play-off positions ahead of upcoming matches. Despite this, Snoop Dogg stays positive about the team’s prospects. “It’s been steady and even though Swansea is a long-term project, we got to still dream for this season,” he remarked. He highlighted the unpredictable nature of the league, noting, “In the Championship you always got to believe that play-off place is alive, in this game you got to dream.”
The rapper also praised the dedication of Swansea’s fanbase and expressed interest in connecting with them personally. “These fans are passionate, they are real, and I want to hear what they got to say when I am in Swansea,” he said.
Swansea’s Recent History
The club last reached the Premier League in 2011 under manager Brendan Rodgers and achieved success by winning the League Cup in 2013. However, relegation followed in 2018, and Swansea has yet to return to the top flight in the eight years since.
