A federal grand jury on Tuesday refused to indict six congressional Democrats who drew President Trump’s ire final 12 months by taping a video telling members of the army that they need to reject “unlawful orders,” in response to three sources acquainted with the matter, together with one inside the Justice Division.

The Democratic lawmakers are the newest Trump foes that the Justice Division has sought legal prices towards, following former FBI Director James Comey and New York Lawyer Basic Letitia James. After the lawmakers’ video was posted in November, the president referred to as their feedback “seditious” and demanded that they be “ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL.”

The information of the declined indictment was first reported by The New York Occasions.

CBS Information has reached out to the Justice Division for remark.

Two of the six Democrats publicly condemned the transfer and applauded the grand jury for declining the costs. Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan stated the president was searching for to “weaponize our justice system towards his perceived enemies.” Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona referred to as it an “outrageous abuse of energy.”

It’s extremely uncommon for grand juries to say no indictments, however the Justice Division has struggled with grand juries in latest months, particularly in politically charged instances.

It is a growing story; it will likely be up to date.
