Two men from Yellowknife face multiple weapons charges following the seizure of an imitation firearm by local police.
Incident Unfolds Outside Apartment Complex
Officers responded to a report Thursday evening indicating three individuals were spotted outside an apartment complex. Witnesses noted one person carrying what appeared to be a pistol along with bear spray.
Police quickly identified the suspects, leading to their arrests. During the operation, officers seized an imitation pistol. Investigators link the event to the city’s illicit drug trade.
Charges Against the Accused
A 39-year-old Yellowknife resident, already subject to a firearms prohibition, faces charges of possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and carrying a concealed weapon. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
A 40-year-old man from the same city is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
