Luke Combs and his wife, Nicole Hocking Combs, celebrate the arrival of their third child, son Chet Wiley Combs, born on his due date Thursday.
The couple shared three photos of the newborn, noting the baby arrived prematurely while they cherished the final weeks of newborn moments. Chet serves as a nickname for Chester, the name of Combs’s father.
Nicole posted on her Instastory alongside a photo of Chet’s tiny hand: “You really do forget how small they are!”
Family Announcement and Growing Brood
The pair first revealed the pregnancy on September 23 through a video showing them telling their sons, three-year-old Tex Lawrence and two-year-old Beau Lee, about their incoming baby brother.
Combs prioritized family by canceling his February 6 performance at the EA Sports Madden Bowl concert in San Francisco ahead of Super Bowl LX. “So sorry to miss y’all at Madden Bowl,” he wrote. “But family always comes first.”
This decision followed a regretful experience in 2023, when Combs missed Beau’s birth while touring Australia. He shared with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in 2024: “I haven’t really told anybody that. I’ll never forget the craziest day, probably, in my life… close to it. One of the best and one of the worst days in my life at the same time.”
Insights on Fatherhood
On September 27, Combs told Taste of Country Nights: “I feel like everybody told me all the stuff [about fatherhood], but it’s like you can’t really understand it until you live it — it’s like getting punched in the face.” He added, “You figure a lot of s*** out after getting punched in the face.”
The couple met in 2016 at the 30A Songwriters Festival in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, where Nicole worked and Combs performed. She reportedly inspired his songs “Beautiful Crazy,” “Better Together,” and “Forever After All.”
Busy Schedule Ahead
Combs shows no signs of slowing down. His 22-track sixth studio album, The Way I Am, releases March 20, followed by the 23-date My Kinda Saturday Night Tour starting March 21 at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
He competes for Country Artist of the Year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards airing March 26 on Fox, facing Jason Aldean, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, and Morgan Wallen.
Combs also owns the Nashville restaurant-bar-venue Category 10, with a new Orlando franchise opening next year. The self-taught guitarist, who started playing at age nine and launched his career at 21, has sold 168 million units and attracts 25 million monthly Spotify listeners.
