The Co-operative Bank plans to temporarily close 11 branches across the UK as part of a 2026 refurbishment program. Three branches are already shut, with eight more scheduled to follow. Several will reopen in June, while four resume operations in July.
Current and Upcoming Closures
The bank states on its website: “In 2026, we’ll be giving our branches a refresh. This means some of our branches will close for a short period. You can find details of temporary closures by region.”
Branches already closed include:
- Lewisham: Closed 27 April to 20 May 2026
- Preston: Closed 27 April to 12 May 2026
- Glasgow: Closed 11 May to 3 June 2026
Upcoming closures feature earlier reopenings for some locations:
- Exeter: 25 May to 9 June 2026
- Ilford: 25 May to 10 June 2026
- Manchester: 8 June to 23 June 2026
- Rochdale: 8 June to 24 June 2026
Four branches will close later and reopen in July:
- Leek: 22 June to 7 July 2026
- Romford: 22 June to 9 July 2026
- Southend: 6 July to 21 July 2026
- Barnsley: 6 July to 21 July 2026
