Erenshor, a singleplayer simulated MMORPG from solo developer Brian under Burgee Media, launched in early access on Steam last year. Designed for players unable to join groups due to unreliable internet, it delivers a full MMO experience with quests, zones, and AI-controlled “simplayers” that form groups, join guilds, and pursue loot independently.
The game has earned strong acclaim, holding a 94% positive review rating on Steam. This summer, it introduces raids as new endgame content for both real and simulated players.
Raid Mechanics and Progression
Max-level players discover runes to enter four raids, each set in an otherworldly plane tied to one of Erenshor’s gods. Teams of 14 simplayers accompany players through four progression tiers, starting with trash mobs for class-specific armor, advancing to bosses dropping capes, jewelry, and weapons, and culminating in battles against the gods themselves.
The update delivers over 120 gear items from more than 20 bosses, plus over a dozen new spells and skills. Burgee estimates 20 to 40 hours of content for the average player. A dedicated raid UI enables strategic planning for how simparties handle boss mechanics.
Simplayer Drama and Guild Dynamics
Erenshor’s simplayers already feature the “comically tryhard” Friends Club guild, known for elitist attitudes like downplaying successes and rejecting suboptimal loot trades. Brian notes that “truly bad simplayer behavior would be anti-fun,” yet the Friends Club will introduce light raid drama in the update, capturing elements of real MMO guild tensions without real-world fallout.
Future Content and Availability
A fifth and final raid follows in a later update, marking the last major addition before version 1.0. The raid update arrives sometime this summer with no specific date announced. Players can download Erenshor on Steam now to experience the simulated MMO world.
