Knoxville Shares Heartfelt Experience at Pride Parade
During the UK premiere of “Jackass: Best and Last,” Johnny Knoxville described his participation in the West Hollywood Pride Parade as a deeply moving experience. He revealed that having a float in the parade was a long-held aspiration, and he found himself overcome with emotion, weeping twice along the route.
Knoxville expressed profound gratitude for the enduring support the LGBTQ+ community has shown the “Jackass” crew over the years, emphasizing the significance of being present at the event. “The support we’ve received from the LGBTQ+ community over the years, it means a lot to be there,” he stated.
Bridging Masculinity and Femininity
Reflecting on the cultural impact of “Jackass,” particularly for those navigating their identity, one individual shared how growing up, the show presented a compelling blend of elements. “As a gay guy myself, growing up watching Britney Spears on TRL, but then watching Jackass too, and I was always torn between the femininity and masculinity of it,” they remarked.
Knoxville responded to this observation by suggesting that the “Jackass” ethos embraces a unique balance. “We bring more femininity than masculinity,” he asserted, offering a perspective on the show’s appeal beyond traditional masculine archetypes.
The Enduring Legacy of Jackass
The early 2000s were marked by the distinctive brand of slapstick stunts and provocative pranks delivered by the “Jackass” team. Memorable moments like the Toro Totter, the Butt X-Ray, and the Poo Cocktail Supreme became cultural touchstones. Now, the original “Jackass” members are reuniting for “Jackass: Best and Last,” bringing back Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Preston Lacy, Dave England, and Danger Ehren, alongside newer cast members.
