Police allege that rapper Lil Tjay instigated a brawl that resulted in Migos member Offset being shot at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Details of the Altercation
The incident unfolded around 7:22 p.m. on Monday in the valet area. Authorities claim Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Merritt, directed members of his group to confront another group of men, sparking the fight. One individual from Lil Tjay’s entourage then fired a gun, striking Offset.
Video footage reportedly captures Lil Tjay filming the confrontation on his cell phone prior to the shooting.
Arrest and Charges
Seminole Police Department arrested Lil Tjay on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct — affray. He was booked at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. A second person detained at the scene has not faced charges, as the investigation continues to identify additional suspects.
Lil Tjay posted bail on Tuesday and denied involvement in the fight to reporters, stating, “I didn’t do no damn fighting.” He also referred to Offset using derogatory language before departing in an SUV.
Post-Shooting Clash
Sworn statements from victims indicate that after Offset was wounded, Lil Tjay approached his associates aggressively with clenched fists, swinging at them. The brawl persisted until police arrived, causing public alarm and endangering bystanders.
Offset’s Condition
Offset remains at Memorial Regional Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. A spokesperson confirmed he is stable and under close medical monitoring. On Tuesday morning, he was spotted outside the hospital in a wheelchair during a brief smoke break.
Responses from Representatives
Lil Tjay’s attorney, Dawn Florio, issued a statement denying rumors of his involvement in the shooting: “Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false.”
