A 27-year-old man has died following a violent and unprovoked assault that occurred while he was cycling in Leicester. George Glover succumbed to his injuries on August 20, three days after the attack took place on Narborough Road.
Details of the Incident
Mr. Glover was discovered by a member of the public near Narborough Road around 6:30 AM on the morning of the incident. He had sustained injuries described as life-threatening and was immediately transported to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment. Tragically, he passed away on August 20.
Arrests Made in Connection with the Attack
Leicestershire Police have made several arrests in connection with Mr. Glover’s death. On the evening of August 23, a 24-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. Earlier, a 31-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were arrested and remain in custody, facing charges related to robbery and conspiracy to commit murder.

He was a hardworking, focused young man who worked so hard to get a job he loved and enjoyed.”
The tribute further elaborated on Mr. Glover’s personal life, painting a picture of a quiet individual who enjoyed simple pleasures. “George lived a simple life. He went to work then came home to enjoy his gaming or putting bike parts together. He very much kept himself to himself,” his family shared. They also highlighted the strong bond he shared with his siblings, noting, “He was loving, loyal and had a good sense of humour. His siblings looked up to him and as soon as he arrived home, the banter with them would start.”
His family also mentioned his interests, including Anime, Lego, and Pokémon cards. They expressed immense pride in his resilience, stating, “He had a tough start in life with physical challenges but we’re so proud of the young man he’d become.” The family concluded by acknowledging the wide circle of people who will miss him, adding, “We know there are so many people who’ll miss him as he was held in such high regard.”

Detective Inspector Kevin Hames of Leicestershire Police has described the attack as “violent and unprovoked” and emphasized the commitment to finding those responsible. “From what we’ve been able to determine, this was a violent and unprovoked attack that’s sadly led to a young man losing his life,” he stated. “We owe it to his family to identify those responsible and bring them to justice – and I’m appealing for public help ensuring this happens.”
DI Hames specifically appealed to anyone who was on Narborough Road, a significant route in and out of the city, on the morning of the attack. “Narborough Road is a busy route in and out of the city. Please cast your mind back to Monday morning. Were you there? What did you see?” he urged. He believes that potential witnesses may not have yet come forward and stressed the importance of any information or visual evidence. “I believe there are people who can help but have not yet come forward. Any information or footage you can provide could assist with our investigation,” DI Hames added.
