A significant lottery prize remains unclaimed, leaving one individual unaware they are now a millionaire. Sydney residents experienced a fortunate weekend with two division one wins in the recent Saturday Lotto draw, collectively sharing $3.6 million.
Belmore Winner Still Unknown
While a woman from Merrylands has come forward to claim her $1.8 million share, a second winner from Belmore, located in the city’s southwest, has yet to step forward. The winning ticket was purchased at Belmore Newsagency, situated at 362 Burwood Road, Belmore. Despite the substantial win, the ticket holder has not yet returned to claim their prize.
Staff at the newsagency expressed their excitement, stating, “It’s amazing how one ticket can change someone’s life. Congratulations to the winner and all the best on your future endeavours.”
Unregistered Ticket Poses Challenge
A spokesperson for the lottery operator confirmed that the unknown winner is not a registered member of The Lott Members Club and the ticket was not registered online. This lack of registration means there is no direct way to contact the winner.
Khat McIntyre, representing The Lott, commented, “Our mystery winner is likely oblivious to the fact they won $1.8 million in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw. We’ve already shared the life-changing news with the Merrylands winner, and we’re ready to do the same with this mystery Belmore player.”
Merrylands Winner Celebrates Home Purchase
The Merrylands winner shared her joy, recounting how she and her husband celebrated the win with a glass of champagne. “I’m still in shock,” she said. “When I checked my ticket on Sunday morning, I couldn’t even process it. We had a bottle of bubbles to celebrate but other than that, we’ve just been going on with our daily life because it’s barely sunk in.”
She revealed that while she doesn’t play the lottery regularly, she buys tickets when the jackpot is substantial. “Something we’ve always wanted to do is buy a house and now we can. It’s incredible,” she added.
Call to Check Tickets
Lottery officials are urging all players who purchased a Saturday Lotto ticket from Belmore Newsagency to carefully check their entries.
McIntyre emphasized, “We’re encouraging anyone who purchased a Saturday Lotto ticket from Belmore Newsagency to check their tickets today. Just imagine how exhilarating it would be to discover you’ve won division one. Your plans for the rest of the year and into the future would quickly change.”
Previous Unclaimed Prizes
This situation echoes a previous instance earlier this month, where a call was made for a mystery winner of a $100 million Powerball ticket purchased last June. That winner has still not come forward to claim their prize over a year later.
