Manager Carlo Ancelotti defended his decision to select Neymar, stating that the team had spent considerable time analyzing the player’s condition. “We realised that in this last period he had continuity and was in good physical condition,” Ancelotti explained. He also noted the multitude of advice he received from various individuals worldwide regarding the squad selection, emphasizing the thorough analysis and information gathered to minimize errors.
Ancelotti further elaborated on Neymar’s importance to the nation, citing his enduring talent and widespread affection among fans. “Neymar is an important player for this country because of the talent he has always shown,” Ancelotti stated. “He’s very well-liked, he’s very much loved.” He added that Neymar’s fitness had improved, enabling him to maintain a high intensity during matches.
