Millions of Android users relying on the Outlook Lite app face a complete loss of mailbox access in just weeks. Microsoft has confirmed the app’s retirement, urging users to transition immediately to avoid disruption.
Shutdown Date Set for May 25, 2026
The final shutdown occurs on May 25, 2026, six weeks from now. After this date, the app remains installable on devices but loses all functionality, including mailbox access and in-app features.
User Accounts Remain Secure
Users need not worry about data loss. Existing emails, calendars, and attachments stay intact and accessible upon signing into the Outlook Mobile app. Microsoft halted new sign-ups to Outlook Lite last October, limiting the app’s user base.
Steps for a Smooth Transition
Individuals still using Outlook Lite should download Outlook Mobile from the Google Play Store before the deadline. An “Upgrade” option within the app directs users straight to the store. Administrators must guide their teams to complete the switch promptly.
Outlook Mobile now serves as the unified standard across Android and iOS platforms, with no separate Lite version for iOS.
