The U.S. Division of Transportation might have to shut “sure components of the airspace” if the longest authorities shutdown on document continues into subsequent week, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated Tuesday. 

“You will notice mass flight delays, you may see mass cancellations,” Duffy stated at a press convention in Philadelphia. “And you may even see us shut sure components of the airspace as a result of we simply can’t handle it, as a result of we do not have the air site visitors controllers.”

He added, “We’ll limit the airspace once we really feel it is not secure.”

All through the shutdown that started Oct. 1, Duffy has maintained that business air journey stays secure. At an Oct. 28 information convention at LaGuardia Airport in New York, Nationwide Air Visitors Controllers Affiliation President Nick Daniels emphasised that his group’s members are underneath mounting monetary pressures.
