A black bear sighted wandering in East Vancouver has been safely relocated to North Vancouver. Officers responded to reports of the animal near Commercial Drive and Grandview Highway, tracking it down around 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
Swift Response Ensures Public Safety
Patrol officers located the bear, with the Emergency Response Team stepping in as it approached nearby people. Vancouver Police contained the animal while it moved toward the Hastings and Commercial area. The B.C. Conservation Officer Service arrived, tranquilized the bear, and handled the relocation.
No injuries were reported during the incident. “The bear slept it off and was released without charges,” Vancouver Police noted in their social media update, which included a video and photo of the animal.
