A house fire in Winnipeg’s West Broadway neighborhood sent one person to the hospital in critical condition Thursday evening.
Emergency Response
Fire crews arrived at the 2½-storey home on Young Street shortly after 5:30 p.m. Heavy black smoke billowed from the structure near the Young and Broadway intersection as multiple fire trucks and an ambulance responded. Officials declared the blaze under control by 6:22 p.m.
Injuries and Rescue
Firefighters rescued one individual from the burning home, while others evacuated safely on their own. Paramedics transported that rescued person in critical condition, along with a second individual and an injured firefighter, both in stable condition.
Ongoing Investigation
Investigators continue to probe the cause of the fire, with no damage estimates released yet. Emergency social services assisted those displaced by the incident.
