British men favor a variety of slang terms for their testicles, with “balls” leading the pack according to recent research. Other common nicknames include nuts, plums, knackers, and stones.
Awareness Push During Testicular Cancer Month
The findings highlight the need for open discussions about testicular health during Testicular Cancer Awareness Month in April. Men tend to joke about their private parts but shy away from serious health conversations. Only 41% feel comfortable discussing testicular health casually.
Four in 10 British men remain unaware of key testicular cancer symptoms. Over half (53%) rarely or never self-check, and 68% admit fear or embarrassment could delay seeing a doctor after finding an abnormality.

Kieran Kelly, managing director of the OddBalls Foundation, stated: “Each year in the UK, more than 2,000 men receive a testicular cancer diagnosis. Caught early, it proves highly treatable—yet many men neglect proper self-checks. Our campaign uses humor to encourage national conversations and save lives.”
Kelly added: “Britain safeguards its Crown Jewels with armed guards and bulletproof glass—we simply urge men to spare theirs 30 seconds in the shower. It could be lifesaving.”
