President Donald Trump announced an 11th-hour ceasefire with Iran via Truth Social, suspending bombing and attacks for two weeks. The move came just hours before his deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, following earlier warnings of severe consequences that raised global tensions.
In a follow-up post, Trump described the agreement as “a big day for world peace.” Iran accepted the Pakistan-brokered deal after a last-minute push from China urged flexibility amid the conflict’s economic impacts, three Iranian officials confirmed.

Investors responded enthusiastically to the news. Europe’s Frankfurt index jumped 5% at market open, while London’s FTSE 100 climbed 2.55% shortly after trading began.
In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei closed more than 5% higher, and South Korea’s Kospi surged nearly 7% on Wednesday.
