West Midlands Police confirmed the man sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. He remains in a stable condition.
A police spokeswoman stated: “We were called to reports of a man on a bridge over the M42 near Solihull at around 7:15 p.m. The man, in his 50s, was taken to hospital after falling from the bridge. He remains in a stable condition.”
Traffic Disruptions
National Highways West Midlands reported the southbound M42 closure between junction 5 at Solihull and junction 4 at Cheswick Green due to the police-led incident. Delays reached up to 30 minutes, with three miles of congestion building on approach.
Authorities later confirmed the road reopened southbound, with no significant delays remaining.
