Advanced Pipetting Technology Enhances ELISA Efficiency
A prominent immunology research team at an Ivy League institution has significantly streamlined its Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) processes with the implementation of handheld electronic pipettes. The VIAFLO 96 and VIAFLO 384 systems, developed by INTEGRA Biosciences, are proving instrumental in simplifying the complex and repetitive steps inherent in these immunoassays.
Improving Consistency and Saving Valuable Time
Researchers in the group conduct a substantial volume of ELISAs daily. The introduction of these 96 and 384-channel pipetting solutions has led to considerable time savings, directly contributing to increased laboratory productivity. The compact and user-friendly design of the VIAFLO instruments facilitates easier handling during these demanding tasks.
A doctoral candidate within the research group highlighted the indispensable role of this technology. “It would be impossible to manually pipette the number of samples required for all the ELISAs we do in a day,” the student stated. “We’ve been using the VIAFLO 96 and VIAFLO 384 to carry out key assay steps, and we’ve recently begun using the programmable automation settings to perform these tasks even faster and more accurately.”
Versatile Applications and Positive Lab Integration
Beyond ELISAs, the research team is leveraging the VIAFLO systems for other critical laboratory functions. The repeat dispense mode, for instance, is reportedly halving the time required for protein purification and aliquoting tasks, freeing up researchers to focus on other experimental objectives. The lab has a broad array of INTEGRA Biosciences products in use, including VOYAGER adjustable tip spacing pipettes and PIPETBOY acu 2 serological pipet controllers, demonstrating a strong reliance on the company’s solutions.
The collaborative relationship with the local INTEGRA representative has also been a key factor in the successful integration of the technology. “Our INTEGRA rep is also really helpful,” the student added. “He’s visited our lab several times to service our VIAFLO 96 and VIAFLO 384 and teach us how to program our devices, saving us hours of time. We’ve only had positive experiences with INTEGRA!” This hands-on support has been crucial in maximizing the efficiency and accuracy of the pipetting equipment.
