Mother Killed, Three Relatives Critical in Highway Collision
A 57-year-old truck driver has been detained following a fatal collision that claimed the life of a 44-year-old mother and left three family members fighting for their lives. The incident occurred Thursday in Conwy Tunnel along the A55 highway in North Wales.
Jennifer Anne Brown, a care worker from Newborough, Anglesey, was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders airlifted two critically injured passengers to specialized trauma centers, while a third victim required ambulance transport. All four occupants were traveling in the same vehicle.
Community Rallies Around Grieving Family
A fundraising campaign organized for Brown’s 20-year-old daughter Keisha has surpassed £14,000 in donations. Organizers described the tragedy as leaving Keisha ‘suddenly without her beloved mum’ while other relatives remain in critical care. Funds will support immediate living expenses and ongoing recovery needs.
Decades of Service Remembered
Brown had worked at Glan Rhos Nursing Home for over two decades, where colleagues remembered her as a compassionate caregiver affectionately called ‘Queen.’ A workplace tribute stated: ‘She blossomed into the caring person we all came to know and love, greeting everyone with a smile that could light up any room.’
Ongoing Investigation
Officials confirmed the arrested suspect has been released on bail pending further investigation. Forensic collision experts continue examining the wreckage as police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage.
Chief Inspector Trystan Bevan extended condolences to the victim’s family, emphasizing: ‘We urge anyone with information about this collision to come forward immediately.’ Traffic restrictions remain partially in effect westbound near Conwy Morfa as investigators work to determine the crash’s cause.
