Officers in Alice Springs discharged firearms at a 38-year-old driver who allegedly accelerated toward a police officer on the sidewalk and a parked patrol car.
Incident Details
The man drove a blue Mazda BT-50 directly at the officer stationed on the footpath. In response, an officer fired three shots, striking the oncoming vehicle.
A police spokesperson stated, “No one was injured by the fired rounds.” The vehicle then collided with significant force into the rear of the police car.
Injuries and Response
The officer inside the patrol vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment. thorities took the suspect to the hospital for prectionary medical evaluation.
