Actor Praised for Heroic Act at French Film Festival
A British actor is receiving widespread acclaim after reportedly intervening in a handbag theft, apprehending the suspect with a rugby-style tackle. The incident unfolded in Annecy, France, as actor Aneurin Barnard was attending the Annecy International Animation Film Festival for the premiere of his latest film.
The dramatic event was shared on social media by the film’s director, Duncan Jones. He described how Barnard, who is known for his roles in “Dunkirk” and “Peaky Blinders,” swiftly acted when he witnessed a “little old lady” being robbed in the city center.
Heroic Intervention and Calm Aftermath
According to Jones, Barnard pursued the assailant, executed a decisive tackle, and held the bag snatcher until law enforcement arrived. Following the apprehension, Barnard is said to have returned the stolen handbag to the distressed victim.
Remarkably, after this heroic intervention, Barnard reportedly joined a scheduled film panel for his new movie, “Rogue Trooper.” Jones, son of the late music icon David Bowie, expressed his admiration, stating, “He jogs over to our film panel, sits down, calm as can be [and] regales the audience with tales from the film shoot. Folks, I swooned.”
