The mother of a 34-year-old musician fatally stabbed in Moss Side delivers a heartfelt tribute, stating her son ‘did not deserve’ to die as police continue their murder investigation.
Adrian Brown, known as Dre and a father of three, suffered stab wounds to the chest on Raby Street around 11 p.m. on Friday, May 8. Emergency services responded to reports of a serious assault, rushing him to hospital, where he tragically passed away shortly after.
Family Pays Tribute
Jennifer Meade, Adrian’s mother, shared her grief in a statement: “My son, you did not deserve this. I can’t put into words how I feel. They took my boy.” She added, “He was a loving son, brother, uncle, boyfriend, and he adored being a dad to my grandkids. I will miss you so much. Rest in peace, son. I love you more than you know.”
Adrian’s partner, Tamia Zameer, and mother of his three children, posted: “R.I.P to my number one, Adrian. I love you always and forever. Me and your boys will cherish every moment that we had. We will miss you so much. Your legacy will forever live on and I will get the justice that you deserve.”
Arrests in Ongoing Investigation
Police have arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of murder, who remains in custody. A 24-year-old man faces the same charge. Additionally, authorities detained a 25-year-old man, a 38-year-old man, and a 26-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Chief Inspector Louise Edwards of the Greater Manchester Police Major Incident Team said: “First and foremost, my thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones as they come to terms with this devastating loss. This was a brutal attack on our streets which has resulted in a young man losing his life. Our officers are working tirelessly to identify all those involved and ensure they are brought to justice without delay.”
She continued: “The arrests so far reflect the extensive work already carried out by the investigation team, and I want to reassure the public that we will continue to pursue every line of enquiry. No stone will be left unturned.”
DCI Edwards noted the incident appears isolated with no wider threat to the public. Residents can expect increased police presence in the area. “We are still appealing for information. If you witnessed the incident, know anything about what happened, or have CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage, please contact us as soon as possible,” she urged.
