Resident of France’s Oleron island allegedly rams automotive into pedestrians, wounding 10, officers say

Bordeaux — A 35-year-old man Wednesday rammed his automotive into pedestrians and cyclists on the French Atlantic island of Oleron, wounding 10 folks, together with 4 critically, a prosecutor stated.

The Oleron resident “intentionally hit a number of pedestrians and cyclists” alongside a fundamental highway on the scenic island off the western metropolis of La Rochelle, prosecutor Arnaud Laraize stated.

When he was arrested, he cried “God is the best” in Arabic, the Justice of the Peace stated.

Police have arrested the person and are investigating him for alleged tried homicide, however the motive behind the obvious assault was not instantly clear, Laraize added.

A supply following the case earlier stated the person had “intentionally hit” the victims, throughout a number of miles.

The prosecutor stated the ramming occurred on a highway becoming a member of the cities of Dolus d’Oleron and Saint-Pierre d’Oleron.

The mayor of Dolus d’Oleron confirmed the suspect was a resident.
