Ring introduces Familiar Faces, a new feature for video doorbells and security cameras that identifies visitors by name in notifications. This allows users to know exactly who’s at the door without viewing the footage.
How Familiar Faces Enhances Home Security
The system stores up to 50 names and faces, mirroring the human brain’s recognition capacity. Users gain precise alerts about friends, family, or strangers. Customize settings to skip notifications for specific individuals, such as a partner or service provider like a gardener, while receiving updates for others on the list or unknown visitors.
Availability and Compatibility
Familiar Faces rolls out now in the UK for Ring Pro and Ring Pro Intelligence subscribers. It works with 2K and 4K cameras and doorbells, plus select HD models. Devices notify users of availability, but manual activation is required.
Secure Management Features
The familiar faces directory remains encrypted within the user’s account for privacy. Add, edit, or delete entries at any time to maintain control.
