The legislative inquiries into flood management corruption have reached the naming stage: contractors naming congressmen and their alleged bagmen, DPWH engineers naming senators, senators pointing within the common path of named ex-DPWH secretaries.
What occurs when the political class investigating the corruption itself harbors the suspects? Or, fairly, what doesn’t occur? The general public stays deeply indignant. Will the investigations assist resolve the problem, or merely defuse it? What’s the endgame?
The political class, from President Marcos Jr. on down, is implicated within the tradition of corruption of which the flood management mess is just the newest but in addition essentially the most brazen expression.
