Adria Arjona, known for her role as Bix Caleen in both seasons of the critically acclaimed Star Wars series Andor on Disney+, has joined the cast of James Gunn’s Superman sequel, titled Man of Tomorrow.
Filming Kicks Off Soon
The follow-up to the 2025 Superman film begins principal photography next week. Recent reports confirm Arjona’s involvement after she auditioned among four actors for a key role last week. James Gunn previously dismissed early audition details as “shoddy and incorrect” on social media.
Maxima or Wonder Woman?
Speculation centers on her character. Initial rumors point to Maxima, the queen of Almenac, a comic antiheroine long linked to the project. However, analysis suggests Gunn may be using Maxima as misdirection to introduce Wonder Woman to the DC Universe.
This theory gained traction following Gunn’s announcement of a new Wonder Woman film last June. Arjona’s casting aligns with fan demands for her as Diana Prince, especially for what could be a brief appearance similar to Supergirl’s cameo in the first Superman movie.
Fan Reactions Pour In
On Reddit, fans debate the twist. “Gunn’s using Maxima to hide Wonder Woman,” one user stated. Another added, “It’s still entirely possible Gunn and his crew called it Maxima, when in reality it’s Wonder Woman.” A third remarked, “I’m still pretty convinced it’s Wonder Woman lol, but we will see.”
Similar discussions thrive on ResetEra forums. “Yeah, I’m boarding the Wonder Woman train,” one poster wrote. “She should have been saved for Diana,” another suggested. “It’s totally Wonder Woman,” a user mused, with others lamenting a potential waste if not.
Gunn has not commented on the casting rumors. Behind-the-scenes leaks from the set may confirm details once filming starts. Man of Tomorrow arrives in theaters in July 2027.
