Actress Helen Flanagan Vows Future Love Will Be Marriage, Reflects on Memoir’s Candor
Actress Helen Flanagan has expressed a strong conviction that her next romantic relationship will culminate in marriage, stating her belief that it will be “the real thing.” The former Coronation Street star also acknowledged a sense of regret regarding the level of personal detail shared in her recent memoir, Head & Heart: Break-ups, Breakdowns and Being Rosie.
Reflections on Public Life and Memoir Content
Flanagan, who recently appeared on Celebrity Ex On The Beach, admitted that she may have been “too honest” in her latest book. Speaking with interviewer Lewis Nicholls, the mother of three discussed the challenges of living a public life. “I think it’s a difficult one because sometimes you can choose, sometimes I do find it difficult, but then again I have spoke about things, so you have to find a way to deal with it,” she explained.
She contrasted her approach with that of other actors who opt for greater privacy. “I have spoke about things, like I wrote a book. I don’t know, maybe if I was too honest in my book a little bit, but it’s done now. It’s written,” Flanagan reflected. “The book is there, so there’s no taking it back. I was actually talking about mental health, and wanted to give context to it.”
Future Relationship Aspirations
Looking ahead, Flanagan stated her intention to protect future relationships. “I do feel that when I do next have my next relationship, and I think that when I have my next relationship, I think it will be my husband,” she declared. “I think it will be the real thing. I will choose to protect it and I will keep that private.”
She elaborated on her desire for privacy, adding, “I will probably say, who that person is, but I will want to protect it. I will want to keep it private. I’ll want to keep it really special, because I kind of feel like everybody’s always got something to say. My next relationship I have I think will be my husband, because I won’t be wasting my time, really. I will want to choose to protect it, definitely.”
Views on Children’s Future
Regarding her children potentially following in her professional footsteps, Flanagan expressed a clear preference for them to avoid a life in the public eye. “I wouldn’t want for my daughter, I mean, do not get me wrong, I’m very grateful for my life and I love my life – I’ve had lots of opportunities – but I wouldn’t want this kind of thing for my daughter,” she stated. “I just wouldn’t. I do feel blessed, but I wouldn’t want it for her at all.”
Personal Life Updates
The single mother recently relocated from her former marital home, which she shared with ex-fiancé Scott Sinclair. Flanagan parted ways with Sinclair, her long-term partner of 13 years, in 2022. They share three children: Matilda, 10, Delilah, 7, and Charlie, 5.
Earlier this year, reports indicated that Flanagan had been compelled to leave the family home, valued at approximately £1 million, as the property is registered solely in Scott Sinclair’s name. The house, located near Bolton, had previously been listed for sale for £1.5 million before its price was reduced to £995,000.
Flanagan has previously voiced criticism towards Scott Sinclair, citing his alleged lack of involvement in their children’s lives and financial difficulties. These comments followed her admission of feeling “old” while filming Celebrity Ex on the Beach, a reality show that brought together individuals who had experienced recent breakups, including her own with Robbie Talbot.
