Reality Star Faces Extortionate Sum for Partner’s Freedom
Former glamour model Katie Price has disclosed a startling revelation: she was reportedly asked to pay a sum of £140,000 to secure the release of her husband, Lee Andrews, from a Dubai prison. The television personality, 48, traveled to Dubai last week to visit Andrews, 43, at Al Awir Central Prison. Her journey followed weeks of efforts to locate him.
Fraud Allegations and Escalating Costs
Upon learning that her husband had been arrested on fraud allegations, Price expressed her immediate desire to support him. Initially, she was informed that a fee of £6,500 would be sufficient for his release. However, upon arriving at the courthouse with payment ready, the figure dramatically escalated to £140,000. This increase was attributed to Andrews’ involvement in a separate property-related case, which has a court date pending.
Addressing Public Scrutiny
Price addressed the unfolding situation, stating that she declined to meet the six-figure demand. She emphasized that the circumstances are genuine and not a publicity stunt, despite any rumors to the contrary. The mother-of-five concluded that Andrews’ release hinges on her personal payment, a prospect she now acknowledges as potentially imprudent.
Speaking about the ordeal, Price commented, “This is real, this is real life; this is my life. It has been a tough few weeks, don’t get me wrong. But I’ve still stayed strong through it all, and I have a smile on my face. So, in this situation, I’m doing what I want to do, and I’m out here in Dubai, because I’m here to help Lee. Some people might not like my choices, but I’m not living for everyone else. I know people have been calling me stupid, I see all the trolling, I hear it. I am not stupid.”
Past Warnings and Financial Concerns
Following Price’s marriage to Andrews, two of his former partners have publicly advised her to disassociate herself from him and refrain from providing financial assistance. Crystal Janke, 40, a former associate, claims Andrews misled her into investing £123,000 in his company with the promise of a £1 million return. Alana Percival, his ex-fiancée, has also issued warnings on social media platforms.
A ‘Face-to-Face’ Warning
During her visit to Dubai, Price met with Andrews’ ex-partner, Dina Taji. Taji reportedly issued a direct warning to Price about Andrews, describing him as a “conman.” Information surfaced in January, shortly after Price’s marriage to Andrews, detailing how he allegedly secured a £200,000 mortgage in Taji’s name without her knowledge. This led Taji to initiate legal action, resulting in a travel ban for Andrews from Dubai.
While Taji has not publicly commented on Andrews’ alleged actions, she agreed to meet with Price to caution her. Following this meeting, Price stated, “My eyes have been opened. I just need some time to think. I still cannot end things with Lee until I’ve spoken to him, but that was a lot.”
Reaffirming Commitment Amidst Drama
Despite speculation that Price was moving on, she appeared to reaffirm her commitment to Andrews over the weekend by posting a photograph of her wedding ring on social media. Her caption declared, “I love @wesleeeandrews.” Friends suggest that Price may leverage this latest crisis to capitalize on her public profile, as her followers reportedly remain engaged with her personal dramas.
Internal Struggles and Financial Realities
A close friend of the star shared insights into Price’s emotional state, noting, “Katie is in pieces. To the outside world she wants to keep up the bravado. But inside she can’t believe how Lee has made her look. He’s pulled the wool over lots of people’s eyes – especially women. And now, as it’s all being played out in the public eye, she’s at the forefront of the con.”
The insider further elaborated on Andrews’ predicament: “Lee is stuck inside that hellhole of a prison. And unless she or someone else stumps tens of thousands of pounds to get him out, he won’t be released any time soon. And whether as a former bankrupt Katie could come up with the money even if she wanted to is a big question. It’s looking like Lee’s conman lifestyle has finally caught up with him. And the last place you would want to be locked up is in Dubai. Katie is so confused, but ultimately it looks like she will be heading to the divorce court once again. However, she will always try to cash in on the drama surrounding her hectic lifestyle.”
