A 29-year-old drug dealer faces justice after police caught him mid-attempt to dispose of his stash while seated on the toilet during a raid in Mansfield.
The Raid at Stockwell Court
Nottinghamshire Police executed a warrant at a property on Stockwell Court in Mansfield on June 6, 2024. Officers discovered Tobe Ojukwe perched on the toilet with a bag containing 94 wraps of heroin and 37 wraps of crack cocaine floating in the bowl. He had tried but failed to flush the drugs away.
Prior Investigation and Vehicle Stop
Investigators had targeted Ojukwe following a vehicle stop in August 2023 on Padley Hill in Mansfield. Intelligence indicated he drove an uninsured car. A search uncovered crack cocaine and heroin valued at over £450, along with mobile phones and cash. Analysis of the phones revealed text messages confirming his drug supply activities, including one where he described the ‘drug business’ as risky.
Court Sentencing
Ojukwe, from Froghopper Lane in Sutton-in-Ashfield, pleaded guilty to six counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. On March 31, Nottingham Crown Court sentenced him to six years and six months in prison.
Police Vow to Target Dealers
PC Dean Fenton of Nottinghamshire Police emphasized the force’s commitment to removing dealers from communities. He stated: ‘Ojukwe is a persistent criminal who tried and failed twice to outsmart the police as the inevitable consequences of his trade caught up with him. Illegal drugs are a blight on our communities and we are committed to taking dealers like Ojukwe off our streets. If people are dealing drugs in our community, they can be assured that they too can expect to come face to face with us.’
