President Trump’s border czar Tom Homan accused members of Congress of inciting violence in opposition to ICE after an officer with the legislation enforcement company fatally shot a girl in Minneapolis on Wednesday. 

In an interview with “CBS Night Information” anchor Tony Dokoupil on Wednesday, Homan watched a video of the lethal incident however declined to touch upon what he noticed. 

Homan responded: “I am not going to make a judgment name on one video when there is a hundred movies on the market.”

As an alternative, he claimed that members of Congress have referred to as the incident “homicide,” which he mentioned will solely incite “extra violence, extra threats and hopefully no more bloodshed” in opposition to ICE staff. 

Homan didn’t title any lawmakers, although a handful of Home Democrats referred to the killing as a homicide in social media posts all through the day. Most lawmakers who condemned the incident didn’t name it a homicide of their public statements.

“I am not going to touch upon an ongoing investigation,” Homan mentioned, earlier than pivoting to chastise those that have criticized ICE. “The feedback about homicide [are] going to incite … extra violence, extra threats and hopefully no more bloodshed.”

The Division of Homeland Safety shortly labeled the incident as “an act of home terrorism” and claimed a “violent rioter” had “weaponized her automobile, making an attempt to run over our legislation enforcement officers in an try to kill them.”

Witnesses and movies dispute the company’s narrative. 

In current days, the Trump administration started a large deployment of Division of Homeland Safety brokers to the Twin Cities space as a part of an expanded immigration crackdown. 

When requested by CBS Information if he has ever seen an instance of extreme drive, Homan blamed public anger towards the company on “false media reporting” and “hateful rhetoric” pushed by some public officers. Homan added that via his evaluations, he has not seen any ICE officers “act inappropriately.”
